Diren received her BSc degree in Biology and Computer Science in 2017 from the University of Bremen. She then earned her MSc in Data Intensive Analysis at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, in 2018. Returning to Bremen, she joined the Cognitive Neuroinformatics group, where she worked on time series data from honey bee colonies and pursued her PhD, completed in 2024.
From 2023 to 2026, she was part of the data department at the Alfred-Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven, where she developed software tools for research data management.
In the Polar Remote Sensing group, she works on sea ice age and drift within the ESA SAGE project, thereby contributing to the development of a new reference dataset for sea ice age.
Her research interests span anomaly detection, time series classification, data management, and citizen science.
