Raul Scarlat received his MSc in environmental physics from the University of Bremen, Germany, in 2012. From 2012 to 2017 he was a scientific assistant at the institute for Environmental Physics at the University of Bremen. In August 2018 he received his PhD in physics at the same university for research on remote sensing of atmospheric and surface parameters in the Arctic. Since November 2018 then he works as a postdoc in the junior research group of sea ice remote sensing at the Institute of Environmental Phyiscs at the University of Bremen.
His main research interests are in satellite remote sensing of the polar regions, atmosphere and surface parameter retrievals. Related topics include optimal estimation inversion techniques and statistical data analysis.
